by Richard Chilver
Why is first love so unforgettable? When she returns home from University Sarah (driven, argumentative and Catholic) meets Owen (none of the above). They love one another but make a life-changing promise to refrain from sex until marriage. They share a need for control. So as to not go too far. To not grow up too soon. To not give away their secret. They don’t stay together, but the effects of their promise are felt over decades. The Wait is a musical love story about first love and the lifelong impact of leaving passion unfulfilled.
We are currently applying to Arts Council England for support to develop this piece of work.
Years of men persecuting me, no one let me be myself. God and you were the only men happy for to keep to my faith
And I thought we came here for a quickie, I’m obviously dyslexic with girls
