October 2013

Director: Dominic Kelly

October 2013 saw the third Shakespeare:bites course and show. We welcomed the audience into Dr Alexander’s Asylum for Unhealthy Behaviour, where inmates judged guilty of “unhealthy” emotional or volatile behaviour were being “cured”. The arrival of a new Inspector gave the inmates the opportunity to put their case across, and plead for their sanity in an explosive battle royal between the oppressive Establishment and the individual’s right to emotional expression. The sonnets were back in force for this piece, along with unforgettable scenes from plays including Antony and Cleopatra, Henry IV Part I and The Merchant of Venice.
